BlackJack

Objective

The object of the game is to win money by creating card totals that are higher than those of the dealer's hand, but do not exceed 21, or alternatively, by stopping at any total in the hope that dealer will bust.

Rules

You (the player) are dealt two cards face-up. Your opponent, the dealer, is dealt two cards, one face-up the other face-down. The value of cards 2 through 10 are their pip value. Face cards (Jack,Queen, and King) are all worth 10. Aces can be worth 1 or 11. Players are allowed to draw additional cards to improve their hands. After receiving an initial two cards, the player has up to three standard options: "hit", "stand", or "double down".

• Hit - Take another card from the dealer.
• Stand - Take no more cards.
• Double Down - You double your initial bet in exchange for committing to stand after receiving exactly one more card.

Once you have completed your hand, it is the dealer's turn. The dealer's hand will not be completed if you have either exceeded the total of 21 or received a blackjack. The dealer then reveals the hidden card and must draw cards until the card total is greater than or equal to 17. Whichever hand is closest to 21 without exceeding 21 is deemed the winner. A detailed outcome of the hand follows:

• If the player is dealt an Ace and a Ten-value card (a Blackjack), and the dealer is not dealt the same, the player wins. Blackjack pays 3 to 1
• If the player exceeds a sum of 21, the player busts. The player loses and the round ends.
• If the dealer exceeds a sum of 21, the dealer busts. THe player wins.
• If the player attains a final sum greater than the sum of the dealer's hand and does not bust, the player wins. The payout is 2 to 1
• If both the player and the dealer are dealt a Blackjack or the sum of their hands are equal, they push, and the game ends in a draw.
